June 2024 The two north and south rows are shown here still get sun in the late evening.
June 2024 panel support conduit keeps the panels at 8 degrees. In the winter the tilt is 55 degrees.
June 2024 In June the panels are nearly flat at 8 degrees. Notice the cliffs showing sunset colors.
June 2024 shows the north and south panel rows with electrical wires hanging.
June 2024 we got one south row on a cement pad, and a north row mounted on posts in dirt.
June 2024 we still get some sun in late evening plus a view of the cliffs.
July 2024 a wash flows beneath the panels and panels provide shade for plants to grow.
July 2024 In July Northern Arizona the panels are tilted 8 degrees for maximum power.
July 2024 Panel mounts on 4x4s, conduit tubing and aluminum struts.

May 2026 Ramped up to 36 tiltable solar panels. 9 pairs on the east inverter and 9 pairs on the west inverter.
May 2026 The wash beneath the panels is turning green with rosemary and succulents.
May 2026 Four panels were added to the center of the concrete pad. The shadow in the spring sun from the south panel row doesn't reach the panels in the middle row.
May 2026 Looking down the south, middle and north rows.
May 2024 The new panels are mounted using garage hinges directly on the ground with no rails.
May 2026 The only hardware necessary are the hinges and 3/4-inch conduit to provide the tilt.
May 2026 These used 255-watt panels cost only $15! I didn't want the mounting hardware to cost more than the panels, so the conduit and free hinges cost only a few dollars.
May 2026 The mounting hardware from the 2024 build required these aluminum struts and brackets. The struts swivel around the pipe to provide the correct tile.
May 2026 The pipe is attached to the 4x4 treated post with these brackets and post tops. They are still holding up after two years of use.
May 2026 The tilt is supported by 3/4-inch conduit tubing. Buried PVC conduit holds the high-voltage wire going to the inverters.
May 2026 Aluminum strut supports the panel and connects to 1-inch metal conduit.
May 2026 Two 5000-watt inverters provide 2-phase power for most of the house. For detailed analysis beyond the inverter's Wi-Fi the inverters are connected to a PC. The PC queries the inverters every minute and stores and analyzes the data.
May 2026 Here's the PC monitor, the two inverters, panel for electrical distribution throughout the house, and 15Kwh LifePO4 battery pack.
